FAQ

1

What’s a Sangeet & Mehndi party?

Sangeet, which translates to “music”, is a colorful event before the wedding filled with dance, music, and good vibes to kick off the celebrations. The “mehndi”, or henna, is another fun pre-wedding celebration, where we’ll have a few artists on hand so anyone can opt to join Ranjani in getting henna applied. We’re combining these traditions into one big, festive welcome party on Friday.

2

Where are the events taking place?

Both Friday and Saturday’s events will be at one venue: The Waters Point, 13401 Ranch Rd 12 Wimberley, TX 78676.

3

What should I wear?

Sangeet/Mehndi night: Cocktail attire or Indian attire. (Indian clothes are encouraged for everyone! People typically pick bright, bold colors for this night. If you need any help sourcing, especially if you’re in the Houston or NYC area, just reach out to us! We are happy to help. Of course, cocktail attire is A-OK too!)

Wedding/reception: Semi-formal attire or Indian formal.

Important note: If the weather cooperates, we are hoping to have all these events outdoors. The venue has open, grassy lawns where we’ll be having most celebrations, and a slight slope down to the Blanco River bank where we’ll be having the ceremony. Please keep that in mind as you pick shoes for the event! (i.e. spikey heels discouraged)

4

Are kids welcome?

Your save the date and invite should list kids if invited! But we know there’s a lot to worry about with Covid, and there’s no judgment if you decide to leave the little ones at home.

5

Can I bring a date?

Your save the date and invite should indicate whether there’s a plus one.

6

Where should we stay?

Check out our accommodations section on this site for all the details on where to stay, and the things to do section for more on Wimberley fun.

7

Should I rent a car?

If you’re flying into Austin, you may want to consider renting a car. You can definitely take a Lyft or Uber from the airport to Wimberley, but once in town, ride-share apps can’t really be relied on. If you’re staying at one of the locations in “accommodations,” we’ll provide transportation to and from the venue for the events, but a car will come in handy if you want to explore town or the surrounding Hill Country!

Isn’t this Halloween weekend?

Yes!! We love Halloween, and have thrown an annual Halloween party in our Brooklyn apartment for many years. This wedding is basically just an extension of our fav holiday. You’ll see us get into the spooky spirit, especially for the late night crowd who make it to the afterparty. If you also love to get dressed up and want to slip into a fun costume or mask later in the evening, we highly encourage you to bring one along!
