Things to do
Wimberley is a charming, small town just outside of Austin in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, perfect for taking in some nature and getting away from the city. It’s got a vibrant arts community, great distilleries and wine shops, and amazing spring-fed waters. We highly recommend doing a bit of exploring while you’re there!
Here’s our list of some fun things to do:
Jacob’s Well Natural Area // Blue Hole Regional Park
While it’ll be off-season for swimming here, these spots are still incredible for hiking trails and relaxing by the water.
Prayer Mountain (AKA Old Baldy Park)
If you’re down for a fun, short hike up 218 steps -- you’ll reach this scenic overlook with 360-degree views of the Texas Hill Country.
The Devil’s Backbone Scenic Drive
If you’ve rented a car and are looking for views, drive this famous scenic loop.
The Rough Creek Lavender Farms
Located just outside Wimberley, you can pick your own lavender from their beautiful fields or take a tour.
Wimberley Square Shops
The Wimberley Square, or “downtown” area is full of quirky shops for art, jewelry, wine, clothing and a lot more!
Wimberley Glassworks
Stop by this glass studio for a public glass-blowing demonstration, to look at art installations, or shop.
Wimberley Zipline Adventure
A fun way to do a tour of the valley, learn about local plants and wildlife, and take in all the views while ziplining.
Cypress Creek Reserve Rum Distillery
Chill on their beautiful patio, and enjoy a cocktail or rum tasting from this locally-owned distillery!
Wimberley Valley Winery
Drink some wine, order a pizza, hang outside on the pretty grounds.
The Leaning Pear
Another awesome patio, this time with amazing comfort foods. Very solid pit stop for a meal.
Odie’s Place
A food truck destination with a rotating cast of great bites.
Ino’z Brew and Chew
A casual spot to have some pub food and a margarita while overlooking Cypress Creek.
Wimberley Cafe
A cute diner-ish spot for a full breakfast menu, and dessert options that include some good ol’ Blue Bell Ice Cream. (a Texas fav)
